When Kelly was in high school and early college, she spent her summers working as a camp counselor, where there was a boy who used American Sign Language to communicate. Wanting to help him connect more easily with the other kids, Kelly took it upon herself to enroll in a night ASL course at her local community college. Each day, she would return to camp and teach the other children the signs she had learned, helping to bridge the gap between them! Breaking down that communication barrier sparked something in Kelly, ultimately inspiring her to pursue a career in speech-language pathology.

Kelly’s favorite part of her job is witnessing the moments when things “click” for her kids. Whether it’s a big breakthrough or a small step forward, seeing kids achieve their goals makes every day rewarding and meaningful!

Kelly continues to expand her expertise and knowledge through courses in Natural Language Acquisition, Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC), Selective Mutism, Social Thinking, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).

Kelly earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders and Master of Science in Speech Pathology from Illinois State University.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her nieces, working on DIY projects around the house, and listening to podcasts.
