Desiree chose to pursue a career as a speech-language pathologist because of her own experiences growing up with ADHD. Since being diagnosed in 4th grade, school and daily life were not always easy for her. However, with the support of a strong community and her own determination, she overcame challenges and grew into the clinician she is today. Those experiences continue to shape her passion for being an SLP.

Desiree strives to provide children with a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where they feel confident learning and developing new skills. Her favorite part about being an SLP is the opportunity to empower children to work through their challenges and celebrate their progress. She finds it incredibly rewarding to give back and support others in the same way she was supported. 

She has experience working with children with speech sound disorders (articulation & phonological processes), early language delays & developmental language disorder, augmentative & alternative communication (AAC), oral phase dysphagia & feeding therapy, orofacial myofunctional disorders, and pragmatic language disorders.

Desiree earned her Bachelor’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Elmhurst University and her Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology from St. Ambrose University.

Outside of work, she enjoys dancing, Zumba, reading books, watching movies and TV shows, going to concerts, and spending time with family and friends.

Her favorite quote is, “Every child deserves the opportunity to communicate and nourish their body with confidence, and I am dedicated to guiding that journey with patience, skill, and kindness.”
