Hummingbird Children’s Academy
Welcome to Our Academy!
Hummingbird Children’s Academy is a unique, evidence-based therapeutic enrichment program for children ages 2-6 (2-9 in the summer) at our locations in Westmont, Woodridge, and Elmhurst.
Our curriculum is play-based and centered around social-emotional development. It is designed by pediatric specialists, including speech & language pathologists, occupational therapists, feeding therapists, physical therapists, and counselors/social workers.
In the Academy, children receive indvidualized therapy around peers and learn and grow through a mix of child-led exploration and therapist-led activities. In our friendly and inviting classrooms, kids develop important social-emotional skills, such as making friends, building self-awareness, increasing independence, exploring pretend play, and problem-solving — all while having fun!

Academy Programs
Caregiver & Me
One-day-a-week program for little ones who aren’t quite ready to separate from their caregiver, giving them a supportive place to practice the skills they need to eventually attend a program independently.
Ages: 1-2 years old + Caregiver
Discovery Playgroup
Two-day-a-week program that promotes children’s cognitive and social-emotional development through play-based activities. Social language and skills are taught and modeled like sharing, turn taking, and being part of a group. These fun and interactive activities promote cognitive development, problem solving, imagination, and social skills.
Ages: 2-4 years old
Early Learners
Four-day-a-week program, focusing on early literacy skills, sensory play, and expanding your child’s imagination. Weekly themed lessons and activities are engaging, challenging, and fun.
Ages: 3-5 years old
Young Explorers
Four-day-a-week program for children who are more independent with lessons and activities focused on higher level skills. This program is geared towards children who are looking for enrichment activities and kindergarten readiness.
Ages: 5-6 years old
Idea Builders (Summer Only)
A two-day-a-week summer program for early elementary students who are ready for more independent learning and higher-level thinking challenges. Hands on activities focus on critical thinking, problem solving, and creativity. Children will engage in STEAM experiments, collaborative projects, and interest-based explorations designed to build curiosity, confidence, and flexible thinking.
Ages: 7-9 years old
